One of our favorite parts when we have coloring time as a family is sharing our finished creations and telling tales about them to stretch our imagination. Sometimes we talk about the picture itself with questions such as “What magical powers does your fairy have? And, what kind of mischief do you think your fairy gets into when humans aren’t looking?”

Introducing Children to Fairies with Books and Fun Videos
When our children became more inquisitive about mythological creatures, their interest in fairies was piqued. Truth be told, we didn’t have much information or knowledge on fairies, so we set out to discover more for them to fulfill their thirst for fairy knowledge.
One of the best videos we found to introduce the children in a lighthearted way to fairies was this video from Cool School on Youtube titled “All About Fairies & Fairy Worlds” It’s a cute video that delights children with fun facts, vivid imagery, and cute illustrations. You should check it out!
Eventually, we set out to our local library to find some quality books about fairy tales. A few of our favorites include:
Good Night Fairies
In this story, a child’s mother tells a bedtime story to her child all she knows about fairies and their magical world. The illustrations in this book are detailed and exciting. Gardens, woodland creatures, and rolling hills filled with the wonders and beauty of fairies are illustrated in this fun book for kids.
Ten Magic Butterflies
Oh, this was a quick favorite in our household. The illustrations are playful, with vivid colors throughout. In this fun book, you count along as the flowers transform into butterflies so they can fly with the fairy. Little do your children know, they are also learning math fundamentals! You see, as each one turns into a butterfly, readers are introduced to different ways to make ten. It’s fun, engaging, and educational!
