Bunny Coloring Pages Inspired by Wild Bunnies

First, it is puppies, then a cat when our children ask us for a pet.

When we quickly shatter their dreams about owning either of these animals, the idea of adopting a bunny comes soon after.

Still, the answer is no!

Not that we do not love these creatures, it is just not the right time. However, the great thing about where we live is that we can experience bunnies in the wild and ooh and ahh at their cuteness without the responsibility of feeding, cleaning, and caring for them!

Nature really is a magical place, no?

The forests, which have also inspired our bird coloring pages, have been a source for our adorable free printable bunny coloring pages.

Within these forests, we go for regular walks as a family. Often, we see wild rabbits hopping about. These adorable creatures are quick and never allow us to get too close to them, but we certainly enjoy the opportunity to experience their cuteness from a short distance. The kiddos are curious about them but know well enough to keep a safe distance from them so we do not stress them out.

Naturally, these encounters have piqued the curiosity in our little ones, so in order to satisfy their thirst for knowledge, along with illustrating some adorable rabbit coloring pages, we did some research to educate ourselves on these fluffy creatures.

Before we break into those if you are interested in using our free printable bunny sheets, here are some instructions to print. Following these steps, we have our top ten amazing bunny facts!

Ten Amazing Bunny Facts

There is an abundance of facts about this beautiful creature we could list. We polled our children while they were working on their bunny coloring pages. They loved these cute facts the most.

    1. A male rabbit is called a buck, a female is called a doe, and the cute baby rabbits are called a kit which is short for… kittens!
    2. Rabbit’s teeth never stop growing! They never get too long either. When a rabbit chews on grass, flowers, and vegetables, their teeth are slowly worn down preventing them from getting too long.
    3. Bunnies are social creatures. They live in groups. Something to consider when thinking about owning a bunny as a pet. Perhaps, getting two is needed to help their well-being!
    4. Rabbits can grow up to 4 feet long. Currently, some bunnies are taller than our children!
    5. When a rabbit gets really excited it will perform a binky! This is an athletic leap of twists and kicks in mid-air. It looks like this

    6. Those big adorable ears? They can be rotated 270 degrees. Nearly a full circle!
    7. That’s not all. A rabbit’s ears help control its body temperature.
    8. The largest bunny on record, recorded by the Guinness World Record is held by a 55-pound rabbit! That’s heavier than two of our children!
    9. In the wild, they burrow into the underground. A group of burrows is called a warren which has nesting rooms.
    10. Like many children, they don’t like baths! Water scares them and can cause them to act out.
